His comedy really wasn't to everyone's taste, but I always respected the guy for saying it how he saw it, and managing to make me laugh while he did it. Boag alerted me of this passing this morning. Another dissenting voice in the world is gone - but hopefully he will inspire some others to start speaking up too. We put out a download single last year that sampled his entire "Modern Man" routine that opens up his "Life Is Worth Losing" DVD - it's some funny ass shit, and contains some corking lines, idefecating on the likes of 50 Cent from a large height. Before you watch, here is some backstory... Cryptopsy were much respected for their supreme playing technique and progressive music, until the talented members jumped ship, leaving the band in the hands of the...Drummer, Flo Monier...He promptly retooled the outfit to suck the venom of the MTV machine, even getting an Emo singer on vocals, and a girl keyboard player than does nothing! Egad! Naturally, the fanbase rebelled, and many turned their back on such obvious turncoated Emo-ness, seeking a newer and truer Metal fix... But Flo Monier continued to rant that his was a true musical genius, and that the fans somehow lacked the savvy to see his corporate Emo as a new chapter of rock, when it was merely another screamo clone. With Tony Blair-like tropes, this musical walking pomposity Flo Monier delivered endless press-conferences and copious self-justifications. The hubris of this mere drummer astounds an amused Metal scene to this day, and is the focus of much forum warfare...!
